Helping others has always been her first love and it is something that Matebane Rosa Sesele does with passion and pride.
Rosa from Kroonstad continues to help the less fortunate reach their dreams and not only does she help with words, but she helps with resources, time, and money. Rosa studied at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, she studied B.sc in Physiotherapy, which she completed in June 2010.
For her community service, she was placed at Manapo Hospital from July 2010 to June 2011 and was later appointed permanently. Working at the hospital exposed her to a high number of children living with disabilities, especially cerebral palsy.
In 2012, Rosa assisted Rosina Mofokeng, a young woman wheelchair bound and after realizing that Rosina was not attending school for 2 years because her primary school didn’t have ramps for a wheelchair, she looked for another school for the young girl and found one.
She also personally helped the young girl with her personal needs, throughout the years of supporting Rosina, Rosina managed to do well at school and enrolled at Maluti TVET where she studied Educare.
The Khoza family is another family Rosa also helped. She helped Mr. Khoza who was wheelchair-bound and had lost his wife by adopting his four young children and assisting them with basic needs. In 2022, one of the Khoza children was amongst the Free State Top 100 achievers as she passed with distinctions.
The late Ntswaki Maleka is one of the people that Rosa raised funds to buy her groceries for two months. Ntswaki was a vendor at Manapo Hospital between 2018-2019. Unfortunately, Ntswaki passed away in 2020.
The are a lot of community projects that Rosa has initiated and implemented that focus on helping people and all of them have been a success.
Rosa’s passion for people is not only limited to her job but whenever she is called to assist, she does it with love and passion. According to Rosa, it gives her joy seeing those she helped happy and smiling.
