A new broom is about to sweep clean at Mosupatsela FM, a local radio station in Botshabelo, Free State.

This was announced by the new Chairperson of Mosupatsela FM Board, Moeketsi Max Maema, during the first live broadcast of the station after a two-month hiatus.

The chairperson explained the reasons for the two-month closure, which stemmed from the station owing Sentech, a signal service provider. The outstanding debt amounts to R260,000, and starting from December 1, the station will make a new commitment to pay the overdue amount.

Maema stated that the current board he leads has been endorsed by ICASA, clarifying that the previous board led by Rakgosi was not recognized by ICASA due to a failure to submit the necessary documents and follow procedures.

Maema expressed surprise at their(board led by Rakgosi) social media announcement regarding their resignation. Additionally, two of the station’s presenters who were suspended will remain so until the new board addresses their situation.

Piet Sir Motaung has been appointed as the Acting Station Manager, while Anno “King Da Voice” Segami serves as the acting Marketing Manager.

In a shocking revelation, Maema disclosed that the station is currently without funds, as a faction within the station registered a separate company called “Mosupatsela Local,” which has its own bank account.

Allegedly, advertising revenue intended for Mosupatsela FM was redirected to this entity. Consequently, there is no bank account for the station due to this situation, and the new board is determined to rectify it.

The new board aims to initiate changes that will restore the station to its former glory. Maema mentioned that a meeting for presenters was called, but only half attended. While the station is open to presenters returning, Maema emphasized their commitment to seeking new talent to revitalize the station.

Acting Station Manager Piet Motaung expressed his readiness for the challenges ahead, affirming that he is committed to working closely with the board to lead the station to success. Companies and businesspeople are encouraged to advertise and partner with Mosupatsela FM to support its growth and help reduce its debt.
