Thaba Nchu-based reading club, Readers to Leaders reading club is on a mission to stimulate interest in reading and they promote and encourage the culture of reading among children.
The reading club was founded by Theodora Segau, Mapaseka Mathejane, and Zipho Mjadu and is registered as a non-profit organization. It currently assists 24 learners with reading and writing in Setswana and English.
The learners are assisted for free and the club is under a three-month literary incubation programme offered by Kwetso. The reading club aims to accommodate more learners but can only accommodate the current ones they have because of the limitation of space.
They are also in need of resources and more books written in Setswana. Despite the challenges they encounter, their learners continue to improve in their school work and their vocab and reading skills have improved tremendously.
