Thabang Motloung, an event organizer from Botshabelo in the Free State and the owner of the Thabang Motloung Foundation, has been accused of unlawfully using the MpumaKapa TV logo for his own benefit.
MpumaKapa TV is an Eastern Cape based TV Channel on DSTV (DSTV 260 Channel)
Moses Nxumalo, a content producer and provider for MpumaKapa TV, stated that they were made aware of Motloung’s alleged misuse of their logo. He allegedly also used it when issuing certificates and allegedly mentions MpumaKapa TV as his media partner while pitching to sponsors and government departments.
Nxumalo emphasized that he has never met Motloung and warned him to remove the logo, as people might attend his events under the false impression that they would appear on MpumaKapa TV.
“He is continuing to use our logo. I want to make people aware that we are not associated with Mr. Motloung. We tried to contact him, but he ignored us, continuing to use banners that display the MpumaKapa TV logo,” he said.

Nxumalo claimed he had attempted to communicate with Motloung but received no response. He wants to make it clear that MpumaKapa TV has no ties to Motloung and is not involved with his foundation.
Nxumalo still has the messages he sent to Motloung, indicating their discussions about removing the logo.
In one WhatsApp exchange, Nxumalo warns Motloung that he will contact his sponsors, as previous attempts to communicate with him have been disregarded.
When contacted for a comment by Free State World, Thabang Motloung stated that Nxumalo should inquire with his former colleagues, Soccer Kwatla and Teboho Lekhasi, as they had an agreement regarding the use of the logo on the banner.

Motloung expressed frustration, stating, “It can’t be that after we have spent R5000 on the banner, we are now told to remove it after an agreement was made. Now that there are issues with colleagues, we are being caught in the middle.”
He continued, “I have explained to this man several times that if there is any issue regarding the use of the logo, he should address it with his colleagues, not with us. I have never met Nxumalo, nor do I know him. I made arrangements with Mr. Lekhasi and Mr. Kwatla while they were with MpumaKapa TV. I don’t know what happened between them that led to this situation.” Motloung concluded.
He said he got the logo from Lekhasi and Kwatla, who allegedly used to work for Mpumakapa TV and had an agreement with them.
“As an organisation, we spent a lot of money on that banner because we had an agreement with Mr Soccer Kwatla and Mr Teboho Lekhasi, who used to work for Mpumakapa TV. Now we can’t be part of their fight. The guy called me and I said to him he must consult his colleagues because we had an agreement with them and won’t stop using that banner because we spent a lot of money to do it. And the logo we got it from them.” said Motloung.
After saying he won’t stop using the banner with the MpumaKapa TV logo on it, he further said for the sake of peace and work, they will edit and remove the logo.
