Artist, storyteller, and author Thabo Billagesh Kgopiso has proven that the pen is mightier than the sword. He is set to release his new book titled “Which One is a Witch.”
Thabo, originally from Christiana and currently based in Barkley West, has transformed a lived experience into a powerful testimony through his writing. His book explores and delves deeply into themes of witchcraft and tradition.
“Which One Is a Witch?” is based on a true story, which Thabo felt was essential to share through his powerful narrative.
“The story in the book is more than just a tale. It serves as a scream written in ink, a haunting testimony, and above all, a mirror reflecting the darker aspects of what we often refer to as tradition,” said Thabo.
The book examines love, fame, and spiritual conflict. It begins like many African tales, filled with love, song, and hope. The protagonist, Gustavo (Thabo’s alter ego in the book), is a young star known for his musical talent and academic brilliance. He becomes enamored with a beautiful woman named Mella.
Mella, light-skinned and radiant, possesses a smile that can make one forget the country’s electricity crisis. Their relationship blossoms, and soon, the gods seem to take notice—Mella is pregnant with twins.
“In most cultures, twins are a cause for celebration. However, in Africa, they signify something deeper. Twins are seen as keys and codes, living symbols of duality and gateways to spiritual wealth. They are recognized by both the divine and the cursed as bridges to abundance and good fortune,” Thabo explained.
The book tells a poignant story of love, pain, and growth. It is a must-read, as once you pick it up, you’ll find it hard to put down. The narrative is raw and real, making it an essential addition to any reading list. The book will be officially released in November 2025.
