Tshireletsa Bana Foundation honoured Andre Mlangeni Ushe with a trophy for being the young athlete of the year at the Clarens Spelling Bee Competition, which was held on Tuesday, 24 September at the Dihlabeng Church Hall in Clarens.
Andre (12) is a grade 6 learner from Dihlabeng Christian School in Clarens, whose passions are running and winning. According to Andre, he has been running since he was in grade 3, representing both his school and Clarens in local races as well as cross country races.

“I run 100 meters, 1200 meters as well as 3 kilometres. I love running and I train every day because I want to win,” said Andre.
This year Andre participated in the first cross country races of the year in Bethlehem and obtained first positions for all his races. He then went through to the Thabo Mofutsanyana Cross Country finals held in Bloemfontein, where he obtained position 3.
He further went through to the ASA Cross Country Championships on the on the 7th of September in Sasolburg, Vaal and obtained position 3.
Andre has also run in other races such as the Surrender hill races and the Clarens Park Run he is very passionate about athletics and wishes to be a world-renowned athlete someday, which he believes he will achieve.
He owes his success and achievements to his grandmother, Tshepiso Mlangeni, who has supported him from his very first race, his training, and every other race that he participates in.
