George Jolimvaba, who resides in Tikwana, Hoopstad, in the Free State province, refused to let a stroke dictate his destiny. In 2018, George experienced a stroke that turned his life upside down. He lost many people and things that mattered most to him, and the stroke made him feel like a burden to his family.
However, amidst the challenges, George was unaware that his painful situation would become a blessing in disguise. Through the stormy waters and tearful periods, God revealed his potential and ability as a writer.
In 2023, he published his first book, “The Broken-Winged Bird Flies Again,” an autobiography in which he shares his experience battling for recovery and how he overcame the lonely and sad phases of his life.

“Writing became my passion and therapy. While writing the book, I was healing at the same time. I refused to let my painful situation define me; instead, I used it as an opportunity to face my fears and share my story,” he said.
In 2024, George wrote and published his second book, “A Curved Road to Destiny”, an engaging novella that anyone can relate to. This book narrates the everyday experiences of a single father raising his son after his wife passed away when the child was young.
“I never let my situation stop me from reaching the heights that God has chosen for me. I am happy to announce that the Free State Department of Sports, Arts and Culture ordered my first book, The Broken-Winged Bird Flies Again, which makes it even sweeter, as it comes from the province where I was born and raised,” he stated.
