She has taken to gospel music like a duck to water and continues to soar and excel. Villiers Born gospel singer Nyakallo Mlangeni continues to minister and heal souls through her music.

She is a composer, songwriter, and ordained minister of the Gospel. Talking about her roots, Nyakallo said she was born and bred in Villiers, Qalabotjha, and attended Zamaleka Primary and Retshedisitswe Secondary School where she completed her matric.

Nyakallo has a National Diploma in Business Management, specializing in Accounting, and has worked in the financial sector. She is married to Moeketsi Mlangeni who is also a Minister and her support structure. The couple have three children.

Nyakallo has been singing in church since a young age but in 2021 took a step further to grow her music career by going professional and has never looked back. Her debut album “The Highest Praise” was released in 2022 and featured Omega Khunou from Friends in Praise and Spirit of Praise on the song “Mo Roriseng”

“I have one album, “The Highest Praise”’ which is available both on CD and online music platforms. My music has enjoyed air plays from both local and SABC radio stations, such as Ukhozi FM, Lesedi FM, and Thobela FM. My music video also plays on Trace Gospel.” Said Nyakallo.

She recently won “The Best Newcomer of the Year 2023 Award” at the Free State Gospel Music Awards held in Bloemfontein on 4 November 2023.

“What I like about my music is that it carries the message of hope to the people. It brings hope to the hopeless, and healing to the sick and broken souls, I minister the message that people need to hear from God through music. Gospel reminds us of who we are in this world, what we are created for, and what we are capable of.” Nyakallo added.

She is looking forward to opportunities to perform at the Lemo Fest and Macufe in the future. Like other gospel artists, Nyakallo is looking forward to recording a live video/DVD in the future and is already working on songs that she believes will touch people’s lives in a unique way.

“To everyone who wants to do gospel music, I encourage you to believe in yourself, take a step of faith, and do what you have been called to do. Taking a step is an indication of willingness that will open other doors for you. Understand that Gospel music is a ministry God has placed in you to change people’s lives. Don’t come into it to compete, but to serve.” Nyakalo advises budding gospel singers.
