Masego Derulo, a former Sesotho news reader at Mosupatsela FM, Motheo FM, and Civic FM, has been making waves on social media in the Free State with his unique comedy news content.
Hailing from Thaba Nchu in the Free State, Masego writes scripts that humorously cover current affairs and shares his work on TikTok and Facebook, garnering thousands of views.
He combines his news reading experience with humor and improvisation, drawing in viewers and promoting the use of his mother tongue, Sesotho.
His first viral video depicted a man turning into a chicken in Durban when attempting to swim in the sea. Masego didn’t anticipate his work going viral but has since received overwhelming support and positive feedback from his growing audience.
His success has inspired him to encourage other young people to leverage their talents for self-promotion and livelihood.
Masego wanted to do so something that would make him stand out and news reading was one of them that made him unique and he decided to do comedy news content and has never looked back.
He said he is overwhelmed by the support he gets after uploading his videos.
“I get a lot of messages from people who appreciate my content. I never imagine it reaching so many people. Some people are looking forward to my next upload and that humbles me” Said Masego.
Besides making people laugh, Masego is also a Soul DJ and Radio Presenter. He is happily married and down to earth.
